It is an operation performed to correct deformities and that occur with age or sometimes structurally due to loosening of the tissues in the upper or lower eyelid. In addition to correcting the appearance, this surgery on occasion corrects the heaviness of the eyelids and the disorders related to that cause preventing vision. Lower eyelid, upper eyelid operations can be performed either alone or in combination. In some cases, the eyelid does not deform alone; it may be accompanied by a low brow, sagging of the middle face, or a low eyelid (blepharoptosis). Detailed examination of the patient is the first and most important step. The general condition of the patient, accompanying diseases, medications used, and whether expectations are realistic are the most important points for us. Detailed examination together with the anesthesiologist is a must for preoperative preparation. If the patient smokes, it is recommended to stop 3 weeks beforehand, and blood thinners to be discontinued before the specified time. Upper eyelid surgery is performed through incisions over the natural lines of the upper eyelid, by intervening the skin, muscle and adipose tissues considered necessary in this area. Lower eyelid surgery is performed from the bottom of the lower lash margin or from the inside of the eyelid. Depending on the deformation in the tissues, interventions are made to the fat, muscle and ligaments. The aim is to tighten the loosened tissues in these areas. Occasionally, these procedures can be performed in conjunction with fat injections, brow lift, correcting sagging of the lower lid contour known as almond eye surgery, or midface lifts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Depending on the procedure and taking into account the general condition of the patient, the patient can be discharged from the hospital on the same day; the patient can also be treated by hospitalization for one or several nights after surgery. In this process, the necessary treatments and cold applications are performed, it is recommended to lie down with a few pillows under the head to keep it high. On average, stitches are removed in 5-6 days, in this process, oedema on the face will be significantly regressed. However, it may take months for the tissues to settle and oedema to fully pass. If necessary, some tapes can be used to reduce swelling. The pain is not very severe, usually at a level that can be relieved with painkillers.
