PREPARATION FOR SURGERY

Detailed examination of the patient is the first and most important step. The general condition of the patient, accompanying diseases, medications used, and whether expectations are realistic are the most important points for us. Detailed examination together with the anesthesiologist is a must for preoperative preparation. If the patient smokes, it is recommended to stop 3 weeks beforehand, and blood thinners to be discontinued before the specified time. Preoperative planning is an important step for surgical preparation.

METHOD OF SURGERY

A pocket where the prosthesis will be placed is created through the incisions made under the breast or the nipple. The place where the prosthesis will be placed can be selected as submuscular, submammary or partial submuscular plane, which we call dual plane. The important thing here is to determine the appropriate method for the person.

HEALING PROCESS

Depending on the procedure and taking into account the general condition of the patient, the patient can be discharged from the hospital on the same day; patient can also be treated by hospitalization for one night after surgery. In this process, necessary treatments are performed, and it is recommended to lie down keeping the body part elevated. Sometimes, drains can be placed to prevent blood from accumulating inside. Although tension and pain can be felt in the first days, within days this condition will pass quickly. During this period, this process can be more easily passed with painkillers if necessary. As the stitches are mostly discarded from inside, they don’t require removal. After a few days, bathing is allowed. Special medical bras are preferred.
